Located on the Ardennes Primaire Massif, Signy-Le-Petit Borough Forest covers 310 hectares (766 acres). It is managed by the French National Forests Office, which ensures its continued maintenance and development. It is planted more or less fifty-fifty in coniferous and broad-leaved trees.

The various woods comprising the forest are:

  • Conifers : Common Spruces, Douglas firs, Scots Pines.
  • Broad-leaved trees : Oaks, Beech, Birch, Hornbeams, Rowan Trees, Aspens.
  • Scattered trees : Wild Cherry Trees, Maples, Sycamores, Ash Trees.
  • Dead wood in the undergrowth : Hazel Trees, Alder Buckthorns, Medlar Trees, Holly Trees.

In these woods, you will find varied flora and fauna that make a walk in the forest a very pleasant experience :
  • Flora : Bracken, Polytrichum, Lilly of the Valley, Woodrush, Meadow Soft Grass, Honeysuckle, Wavy Hair-grass, Tufted Hair-grasse, Bilberry, Purple Moor-grass, Peat Moss, Blackberry, Alleluia Wood-sorrel, Wood sage, Common Heather etc.
  • Fauna : Deer, Wild Boar, Hares, Foxes, Squirrels, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Green Woodpeckers, Jays, Thrushes etc.
